Towards OPE based local quark-hadron duality: Light-quark channels
نویسنده
چکیده
Various light-quark channel current-current correlators are subjected to the concept of a non-perturbative component of coarse graining in operator product expansions introduced in a parallel work. This procedure allows for low-energy structure of the OPE-derived spectral function. With naive vacuum saturation for 4 quark operators and using lattice data for the gauge invariant scalar quark correlator the results are far off the experimentally measured behavior. However, using the correlation length of the gauge invariant vector quark correlator, which is about 10 times smaller than the scalar one, the qualitative results are rather realistic. Namely, the input of information on the mass of the lowest resonance in one channel yields the corresponding masses within acceptable errors in other channels. Still, the shapes of the calculated spectral functions are considerably deformed as compared to experiment. This may be a consequence of vacuum saturation and the truncation at a mass dimension which is below the critical dimension from which on the asymptotic expansion does not approximate anymore. To improve on this high-resolution lattice information on gauge invariant n > 2 point correlators would be needed. Motivated by the small effective correlation length in the 4 quark contributions the relevance of the approach for heavy quark physics, in particular in the calculation of nonleptonic, inclusive ∆Γ, is discussed.

On quark-hadron duality in the heavy quark sector
I discuss possible failures of local quark-hadron duality in the system of heavy-light quark mesons. As an example, I consider a correlator of two currents comprising heavy quark operators, and I compare the OPE expression with the result obtained by a complete insertion of hadronic states. After a smearing procedure, OPE and hadronic spectral functions agree with each other. However, the local...
متن کاملOperator Product Expansion and Local Quark-Hadron Duality: Facts and Riddles
We review the status of the practical operator product expansion (OPE), when applied to twopoint correlators of QCD currents which interpolate to mesonic resonances, in view of the violations of local quark-hadron duality. Covered topics are: a mini-review of mesonic QCD sum rules in vacuum, at finite temperature, or at finite baryon density, a comparison of model calculations of current-curren...

متن کاملOn the short distance nonperturbative corrections in heavy quark expansion
We study the corrections due to renormalons to the heavy hadron decay width. The renormalons contribution estimated in terms of finite gluon mass based on the assumption that the gluon mass represents the short distance nonperturbative effects in the standard OPE (and hence in the heavy quark expansion). We found that the corrections are about 10% of the leading decay rate. We point out the imp...
متن کاملHow quark hadron duality in QCD may work
We pursue the issue of the local quark-hadron duality at high energies in twoand four-dimensional QCD. A mechanism of the dynamical realization of the quark-hadron duality in two-dimensional QCD in the limit of large number of colors, Nc → ∞, (the ’ t Hooft model) is investigated. We argue that a similar mechanism of dynamical smearing may be relevant in four-dimensional QCD. Although particula...
